What is a licensed clinical social worker?

I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). An LCSW is authorized to independently practice clinical social work in Colorado. To become an LCSW, a social worker must receive a master’s degree in social work from a state approved graduate program, successfully complete at least 3,000 hours of satisfactory, supervised clinical professional experience after receiving a master’s degree in social work, and pass the authorized examination for the practice of social work as a licensed clinical social worker.

What is the length and frequency of therapy sessions?

Sessions are between 45 minutes and 55 minutes. Most clients benefit from weekly sessions, although some of my clients come every other week for a variety of reasons.

How long will I be in therapy?

There is no rule about how long a person comes to therapy. Whether it is 6 weeks, 6 months or longer, it is something we can determine together.

Is what we talk about confidential?

Yes, what we talk about is confidential within the limits of the law. Clients are protected by privacy regulations set forth by HIPAA.

Does insurance cover therapy?

Insurances vary, but most plans have in and out of network benefits for mental health. There is sometimes a deductible you must meet before coverage begins. We can check your benefits before you come for your first session so you know what is covered and/or what it may cost you for services.

What is your cancellation policy?

I know things happen and we need to change or cancel appointments. I require a 24-hour notification for cancelled appointments. If you do not give 24 hours notice, you will be charged $75.
